Welcome
The National Initiative for RNA Biology and Its Applications (NIRBA) program is a national initiative to advance RNA biology research in Singapore. One of the primary objectives of this initiative is to understand the impact of Asian genetic diversity on the RNA biology of disease. A key element of this initiative will involve the generation, storage and analysis of large amounts of data, particularly next-generation sequencing data (NGS). It is projected that this initiative will generate petabytes (PB) of NGS data over the next five years and require hundreds of thousands of computing hours to process, harmonize, and analyze.
This document provides a comprehensive overview of ongoing NIRBA activities: end-to-end view of the wet-lab and sequencing acquisition for direct RNA-seq libraries; details of the transformations required to convert nanopore signal data into usable sequence data; and potential analyses and datasets that could be disseminated to NIRBA investigators.
